"Free-media" is about finding inspiration and resources in our built and natural environment. This Hackney event was the first "Free-media Open Day", temporarily transplanting the MediaShed into SPACE studios to show how free-media could be used to draw young people into activities at the SPACE arts centre who would never normally enter such an environment. Part of Hackney Council’s "Discover Young Hackney" cultural festival, about 70 youngsters aged between 12 and 19 got involved in pursuits from Video Sniffin’ and Spy Kiting to learning Linux based computing and building their own open source sound studio. Yes yes, TW will be one whole year old. Woo! To celebrate we're gonna throw a party. We would put on better music and artists, but to be honest, how can we get better than we've already had. So we're gonna have more of the same!! Be sure to get down to the Sun Rooms on Sunday 1st April (no joke, just coincidence, anyways, we're not superstitious) at 6:30 for another top top night of quality music and visuals. So far we have confirmed quality DJ sets from [relation], DJ Wes Cliff, Hybernation plus more tbc Bring cake and presents!!!! Submitted by stuart on Tue, 2007-03-06 18:10.
SUNDOWN...MARCH 25TH...UPSTAIRS IN THE BALLROOM @ ROYAL HOTEL, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA... Our featured poet for the evening will be NATHAN PENLINGTON, he of SHORT FUSE, POETRY IDOL and INVISIBLE INK. This man can make you laugh, he can do magic and plays one hell of a mean, er, toy guitar. Nathan P We also have the surrealist music and poetry from ITCHY CIRCUS ODOUR where I genuinely get to use the term 'expect the unexpected'. Itchy We'll be having two musicians, the first is indie/folk boy NICK SILVEY. Nick The second is punk/folk (polk?) dyslexic rockers DEFERRED SUCCESS. I would cross out the 2nd 'C' but the spelling bee wannabe in me just will not allow it, sorry. Submitted by stuart on Fri, 2007-03-02 16:16.
tw12 > 4th March @ The Sun Rooms > Southend-on-Sea > Essex > 18:30 > 22:30 In March we have a formidable line up. We play host to 2 acts from the Rednetic Recordings stable. First up we have Sunosis (see more below) who is playing as part of his album launch tour, and secondly will be Rednetic main man Zainetica, both playing their own special blend of electronica, that Rednetics is fast becoming renowned for. We also look forward to Isnaj Dui, who will enchant us with her lush layers of experimental scapetronica. Also this month is the return of the fantastic dj skills of Rob Gretton, after his too long an absence, and also Paul G who rocked the dance floor on our New Years Eve party. VJ Mokital adds the gloss to an already shiny photo with his brilliant visuals. All in all, a top notch line up packed full of healthy goodness. A bargain, especially as the entry is still FREE. Doors open at 6:30pm.
