[space] Free Media Open Day for Young Hackney, March 24th

"Free-media" is about finding inspiration and resources in our built and natural environment. This Hackney event was the first "Free-media Open Day", temporarily transplanting the MediaShed into SPACE studios to show how free-media could be used to draw young people into activities at the SPACE arts centre who would never normally enter such an environment. Part of Hackney Council’s "Discover Young Hackney" cultural festival, about 70 youngsters aged between 12 and 19 got involved in pursuits from Video Sniffin’ and Spy Kiting to learning Linux based computing and building their own open source sound studio.
