Southend on Sea Linux User Group

The Southend Linux User Group has been meeting every week at the MediaShed Since November 2005, as a group we have functioned on a weekly basis since July 2003 when the group was initially formed. Now occupying larger premesis to cope with demand we assist and train others to use the Linux Operating System and that of it's various and numerous application and management systems, in addition we assist various functions and workshops that are held at the MediaShed. SoSLUG also provide product support and expertise for the software and management systems used by and within the MediaShed to communicate it goals and objectives to that of the community. The MediaShed and SoSLUG are in close partnership together and are committed to bring the highest possible standards and stability, with closer ties for the community network at large, with that of freely availble and freely obtainable software to the benefit of the Companies, Prosumer and the individuals alike.

SoSLUG and MediaShed operatete to provide technical and creative expertise to groups and or individuals provided the software is solely Open Source in nature, either that or protected under the creative commons license.

Both the MediaShed and SoSLUG use only open source software, that is to say software that is just as good if not better than proprietary software, and which is freely availble to use or modify for the benefit of you and the other users.

Although running weekly workshops we also run monthly meetings or seminars that highlight aspects of design or programming which the group as a whole would like additional instruction on. If you wish to nominate a suggestion for a seminar or wish to run a lecture yourself, please contact linux@techsys.co.uk or come along to any of our workshops or lectures and make your suggestion in person, you could discuss your ideas with others and may find advocates that could ask to contribute to your lecture adding greater depth and variety to the subject discussed.

As a SoSLUG and MediaShed member SoSLUG is always mindful that their is always someone who knows more than you do.
