Media Use and Communication Flow
Student Name: Monique Natalia Wiradisastra
My objectives:
• Think of a project to represent the use of official and unofficial media in the building
• Find a way to map the official and unofficial media usage of the building
• Find out what official and unofficial media are used
• Find a way to measure the flow of communication through official and unofficial media in the building
• To learn a data base program to organize all the data
The resources and strategies I will use are:
• Collect data of official and unofficial media used in the building (by hand and interview)
• Take visual documentation of all the official and unofficial media (photographs)
• Interview the porter as he could be a source of unofficial media (for note passing)
• Contact Goldsmiths IT services to find out about how much data are being transferred out and in every day through the university network
The proof of accomplishing this activity will be:
• To present the group with a map of media usage in the building with a clear visualization on where the particular ‘hot spots’ are where there is an abundance of media use (particularly unofficial media)
• I can use a program to create a visualization of all the data I have collected
Evaluation criteria and means of validation will be:
• I can create a map or table of the database which is easy to understand
• Other people in the group can use the data for their own projects
