E²PROM
(a memory device whose contents can be electronically programmed by the designer)


The E²Prom (pronounced ee-prom; the ² is silent) project was set up by the MediaShed in conjunction with local alternative film promotion group the Leigh Film Society. Its goal is to organize and manage events that bring together artists, musicians and filmmakers that are working in different digitally based medias and provide them with an opportunity to show their work and meet other like-minded individuals to pool resources, skills and form collaborative projects.

Local digital artists that may not be aware of the larger global community of experimenters and pioneers are able exhibit their work alongside more established practitioners giving them a chance for critical feedback, exposure to new ideas and the opportunity to have their work taken seriously.

Guest artists and speakers from outside the area can exhibit their work within the MediaShed space or access the SkintStream project to deliver their work across the internet and have it projected onto a large screen for audience interaction.

Events take the form of a relaxed party. Focused viewing sessions with the lights down are alternated with time to explore the MediaShed space or just kick back, chat and enjoy the entertainment.
