We have been asked to produce something - remake something etc for the Being here final event.Thoughts welcome - The following is an email from Alex Hyde. The event will be held on Saturday 29th April from around noon till around 7pm. The main venue is the new college building, where there will be a day-long schedule of events including a new site specific performance, and performances of the projects developed over the past three years. In addition to this, some of the visual arts work will be displayed in the gallery space as well as at Focal Point Gallery and hopefully we will be able to display some of the visual arts work across the town centre (I’m looking into banners and projections). Cue Music will be working with us to produce a music concert on the High St at the end of the day, and we are planning to have a marquee on the High St with volunteers and artists working creatively to encourage people to go into the college and see the work, and to raise awareness of Being Here in general. We expect to get audiences of local dignitaries and the friends and families of the young people involved, but it is important for us to try and attract the public. The event will be marketed in the local press and media, and we will be approaching the National press also. We would be delighted to involve Mongrel and the Media Shed in some way. I can confirm that as discussed earlier, we can offer £1,000 to fund the development of a Media Shed element for the day. I know Heather had discussed webcasts etc, though I know you were uncertain about the cost of setting this up. If we could work out a mutually beneficial way of producing some kind of feature to celebrate and/or showcase the achievements of the Being Here project and the continuing work of the Media Shed, and involve some of the young people either in the college or on the High St during the day, that would be wonderful. I hope this will be something we will be able to work towards together. If you could develop some ideas for how you might use the funding to create a presence and who would be working on this for the event, perhaps we could arrange a meeting in February to confirm everything and set out what we can achieve? |
